Guided tours of the City Chambers are free and twice-daily at 10.30am and 2.30pm. The building itself is a potent symbol of Glasgow’s past wealth and power, and its stunningly opulent interior, with ornate mosaics tiling the vaulted ceilings, carved archways and marble staircases, belies its rather dry quotidian purpose.
If you're in the area it's a cool spot to quickly stop at and see at least once. Definitely not a beach to relax or go swimming at. Had a friend who could spend hours looking for pieces of sea glass.
This is fun to shift through and see if you can find a fun treasure to look at. Not a good swimming beach. Last time we were there there were remnants of a party with trash everywhere it was very sad to see.
Beautiful place for a relatively easy hike! I might’ve enjoyed it more if we’d done a guided tour, but it’s too out of the way to go back, and the drive out there is harrowing!
