AMAZING!
I'm a kiwi but had no memory of being here before (apparently when I was little).
Was only there for a couple of days but was plenty of time for an awesome experience.
Stayed at Glentanner park which has better views than Mt Cook Village. You can walk to the lakeside and the wifi still works! I got up to watch the sunrise over the mountains.
Then off for a Glacier Explorer tour on the Tasman Glacier lake. They pull up alongside icebergs and you get to touch them! I don't even like water but this was very cool.
I went to the Mt Sefton lookout and had a picnic lunch. From the bridge I think you get one of the most amazing views in the park.
In the afternoon I took a helicopter ride and landed on the Tasman Glacier. Words cannot describe this. I had perfect weather and the sky was bright blue against the white snow. Amazing doesn't describe it.
At night I went to the planetarium and then star gazing afterwards. I grew up in the country so the 'dark sky' was no better than I was used to but if you lived in a city you would find it breathtaking.
Seriously, go there!!!!
