Somewhat small, not a top notch museum, but perfect for what you're paying ($2-3pp). More a big collection than a museum, in my opinion. Could take you anywhere from 15 min to an hour or more if you're reading about and looking at everything - it's small but jam packed. Good collection for either someone seriously interested in firehouse things (gear, alarms, trucks, hose nozzles, badges, etc.) or a young child who can listen. My 2.5 year old loved the fire truck he could sit in (and pretend to drive) and somewhat enjoyed the room geared toward young kids - coloring, a small maze, dress up, etc. The only tough part was the many other antique fire trucks he couldn't climb on - for obvious reasons, but that was tough for him to understand!
Slightly smaller than I thought it would be but interesting to walk around. I am assuming the exhibits are changed once in a while. I didn’t see the Dr. Seuss section but it was still intriguing to see the other exhibits on display.
A really intriguing look into the past of San Diego. They had a wonderful 30 minute video on the history of Balboa Park and all the changes the area went through over the years- thank you to the Committee of One Hundred for saving the historic buildings and culture of Balboa Park. They had an inspiring LGBTQI display that really shows the hardship and struggles the community has gone through over the years up until today. They have a section about the first women who came to San Diego. It was a great look into the past of how San Diego was created and how it grew into the massive city it is today and how much history Balboa Park has. A must see, to learn more about San Diego and see how it came to be.
A cool place to view several different minerals and gems, they even had some fossils! It’s a little small but the collections they have are really neat to look at. It’s clear the collectors have put a lot of time and effort into their collections and caring for the minerals and gems they have.
