The Hermitage, the home of General and President Andrew Jackson is a well-maintained mansion on a beautiful site. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. I stopped at the Hermitage is most worthwhile. In addition to the mansion, be sure to visit the museum at the entrance and take time to walk the grounds.
Cape Perpetua Scenic Area includes everything from tide pools at the edge of the ocean to a dramatic cleft in the rocks where the waves come crashing in. There are over 20 miles of hiking trails here. But you don't have to be a hiker to enjoy this place - much of it can be seen with short easy walks on level paved surfaces.
