Glacier Shuttle
The new shuttles at Glacier are awesome - look like they're styled after the red jammers. There's no charge, and they run every 15 minutes (on the west side) or half hour (on the east). Biggest problem we saw was a shortage of eastbound shuttles from Apgar Village and Lake McDonald.
Georgia or West Virginia, New York or Vermont, each state on the trail has great things to see and experience. No matter your age, no matter the time of year you chose, if properly prepared and accompanied the AT is the premier place to strengthen your character and your legs, widen your thoughts and appreciation for the wonders of creation. Enjoy the hike(s), see the sights, taste the waters and see the people who wander the trails and do not feed the wildlife under any circumstances. Take eye photos or real ones and share them with everyone.
There is a sense of peace here that is palpable. There are important lessons here of civility, graciousness honor. Grant’s terms of surrender could have been punitive but he chose an honorable attempt at reunification of our country. Lee also had this in mind as his actions afterwards aimed for the same goal. Unfortunately the lessons here seem to have been forgotten. Every American should first visit Gettysburg and then Appomattox Courthouse. Perhaps then the lessons here will be relearned.
