It’s like a little piece of Europe in TEXAS! It cost $16 to get in, but it’s open til 10(?). The flat rocks on the shore are perfect for hopping right in the clear water. It is a nude beach. Come on, at least try it once!
Gorgeous drive in the fall. It can be crowded at some spots, but people seem to be aware and don’t dawdle too long. I highly recommend the drive, especially late October when the leaves are changing and it’s (hopefully) been raining so the waterfalls are really pumping!
We had a fantastic 1st visit to Mammoth Cave! Ranger Aaron was a great interpretive ranger, mixing the geology of the cave with a framework of the cave’s historical significance and the guides that had been a part of that history. So glad we made our reservations online a few months ago.
We've done the trek at winter (January), it was quite foggy in the mornings but then the sun came over. The hosts are really good people, have simple buy lovely houses and delicious fresh food. There's always at least one person at the homestay who speaks english (except for your guide) so you can get to know many things from them. Of course the views on the way are amazing too and the trek makes a pleasant trip.
