Great things to do when in San Diego. Make sure to check the seasons when Grey Whales are passing by. Other whales are around but lots of Grey’s pass by on the way to Baja and back to Alaska.
This gem of a refuge offers hiking and walking trails, bird hides, seasonally protected areas, historic buildings, a Ranger office with clean restrooms and a gift shop, and a long winding driving area. Elk, geese, migratory song and water birds, and many more animals can be seen throughout the park. Some trails are bordered with wild blackberries, pears, apples and plums, which attract many birds and are heavenly to walk through when ripe and fragrant.
So cool! You can tell these ears are so cherished by their caretaker. Jeff will tell you himself he continues to learn more with each interaction. Very knowledgeable.
We saw four beautiful bears on our tour.
I wouldn’t recommend kids under 10 though because while you do get to see and take a ton of pictures- a lot of the fun was conversation/education with the owner. Also little kids running around screaming would likely ruin seeing any creature along the path and cause the bears to flee out of sight.
