The fans vote for the starting positions from among their favorites. The players and managers then select the balance of Major League Baseball’s best performing stars to round out the rosters. Those chosen meet for one game in July. The stakes: identifying that year’s home team for the World Series. The game is played on a date and in a city typically known 3 years in advance.
