Attend Fête de la Musique, Paris, France

On the longest night of the year the whole city turns into a big party as 200,000 people take to the streets of Paris to celebrate the summer solstice, life and music. There will be bands and groups performing on street corners and in the bars. Launched in 1982 by the French Ministry for culture, the Fête de la Musique is held in more than hundred countries in Europe and over the world. It takes place every 21st June, the day of the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere. The musicians are asked to perform for free, and all the concerts are free for the public. Fête de la Musique encourages the major music institutions (orchestra, operas, choirs, etc.) to perform outside their usual locations.
