The Holmenkollen Ski Festival is a traditional annual Nordic skiing event in Holmenkollen neighborhood of Oslo, Norway. The festivals is often said to be like a second National Day in Norway. It takes place in March and has been arranged every year since 1892, except for 1898 and during World War II (1941–1945).
The most important feature of this festival is the ski jumping tower whose jump has been extended 18 times since the start of this festival in 1892 and can accommodate30,000 spectators. Currently, the tower extends 60 meters above ground, and 417 meters above sea level.
Make sure to visit theSki Museum in Holmenkollen. You can learn about 4,000 years of skiing and see skis from the Vikings. It’s the oldest ski museum in the world and be found underneath the ski jump.
