Tortugueros Las Playitas in Todos Santos, Baja helps restore the Critically Endangered Pacific Leatherback population which is on the verge of extinction. The turtles are release from December-March in the evenings around sunset at Turtle Camp in Las Tunas. You can watch newly-hatched baby turtles totter out to the sea.
Thier mission is to protect, conserve and replenish the fragile marine eco-systems of Baja California Sur, Mexico. They place a special emphasis on Endangered Sea Turtle population recovery, habitat protection and environmental education in Todos Santos, Las Playitas and Agua Blanca.
They have many Volunteer opportunities for all ages! There are day shifts monitoring the greenhouse and caring for hatchlings, evening shifts cleaning nests and releasing hatchlings, as well as night shifts patroling for and relocating nests!
