Attend National Championship Air Races in Reno, Nevada

Reno, Nevada hosts the National Championship Air Races every September. The event provides 5 continuous days of racing action with six classes of aircraft. There are several courses overlaid in the same viewing area and accommodate aircraft ranging from biplanes to jets traveling at speeds from 150 MPH to over 500 MPH. The pylons that mark the course are 50 feet tall and reinforce the motto of the racers to “fly low, fly fast and turn left”! In addition to watching the full schedule of wing tip to wing tip races at Reno Stead Airport, there are a number of other diversions and activities typically scheduled including military displays, parachute demonstrations, acrobatics and aerobatics and formation flying. The Reno area is adjacent to scenic Lake Tahoe and provides numerous other opportunities for outdoor activities as well as legalized gambling in the many casinos in the immediate area.
