Purim Street Party in Tel Aviv, Israel
View Original Description
Purim is a Jewish holiday which commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from annihilation at the hands of an official of the Achaemenid Empire named Haman, as it is recounted in the Book of Esther (usually dated to the 5th century BCE). Tel Aviv pulls out all the stops for this national holiday for which costume-clad revelers imbibe and make merry at the street parties.
