View Original Description
Held on America's Memorial Day Weekend at the end of May, the Indy 500 is the most famous open wheel automobile race held in the United States. In fact, the type of cars entered in this race are known worldwide as “Indy Cars”. The event, called “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” is held before a live audience of 400,000 and viewed on television by many millions more throughout the world. The venue, The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, is affectionately called “The Brickyard”in recognition of its heritage as a track that was originally paved with 3.2 million bricks, since covered with a modern day racing surface. The start/finish line retains the historical paving material in its “yard of bricks”.
Your dream visit can include a tour of the Hall of Fame Museum, a round of golf at The Brickyard Crossing Golf Course or a tour of the most famous garage area in all of motor racing: Gasoline Alley. Rides in actual Indy Cars can also be arranged through the “Indy Racing Experience” available at the track. If you have ever imagined watching an Indy 500 race in person now is the time to add this experience to your list.
