Louisville, Kentucky on the first Saturday in May – have you ever dreamed of being there for the annual Run for the Roses? This one and a quarter mile race of nature’s finest 3 year old horses is the first leg of the coveted “Triple Crown” of horse racing. The race itself caps a two week long spectacle known as the Kentucky Derby Festival and is perhaps the best known horse race in the world. The “Fastest 2 Minutes in Sports” as the race is affectionately known has been run for more than 137 years. The excitement of race day is enhanced by the ladies attending in full regalia; adorned in big hats, full length dresses and carrying fancy umbrellas. Derby fashionistas are everywhere but especially along the Millionaires Row of box seats occupied by horse owners and their friends and family. Imagine yourself sipping a Mint Julep while completing your own race card and trying to pick the winner out of the 20 horses lined up at the starting gate. Once you have added this dream to your list you might even consider building on a trip to Churchill Downs for The Kentucky Derby into your own pursuit of a Triple Crown.
