BASE Jump
Perrine Bridge, Idaho
View Original Description
Many BASE jumpers have made their first flight at the I. B. Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls Idaho and if your dreams include flying off a fixed object with a parachute this is a great place to start. The bridge spans 457 metres above the Snake River providing passage for U.S. Highway 93 to link the Twin Falls area with Jerome County.
The Perrine Bridge is the only U.S. location where BASE jumping is allowed without a permit. But don’t think of this bridge as only a spot where beginners start to earn their wings. Although the canyon below allows for generous landing spots, the currents and relatively low (148 metres) bridge commands respect from even the most seasoned jumper. Additional challenges can arise in the event of a water landing. It’s also a great place for accomplished jumpers to perfect their aerials and perform multi-way jumps.
The Snake River is where Evil Kneivel made one of his most famous motorcycle jumps in the 70’s. The scenery is breathtaking and ruggedly beautiful. There is a multitude of other sports to enjoy in the immediate area. A trip to the I.B. Perrine Bridge over the Snake River could be the foundation of your dream fulfilling adventure.
