The Black Jack Campground is nestled among pine and eucalyptus trees near Mt. Orizaba. At 2,097-feet, it’s Santa Catalina Island’s highest peak. At 1,600 feet above sea level, the facility provides eleven campsites with sweeping views of rolling terrain to the ocean. Situated several miles from both Avalon and Two Harbors, Black Jack Campground offers tranquility in the island’s interior.
The Black Jack Campground trailhead is accessible by either hiking, taking the Airport Shuttle from Avalon, or by Safari Bus. The trailhead for the campground is 9 miles from Avalon and 11.8 miles from Two Harbors. Once at the trailhead, it is a 1.5-mile moderate hike into the campground.
Fires, charcoal and propane stoves are allowed at Black Jack but there are no delivery services for these.
