Horton Creek Campground is a popular camping spot in the summer months for climbers because it is close to both the Buttermilk Boulders and the Owens River Gorge, both world-class climbing areas. Campground is located on an alluvial fan, next to Horton Creek with an outstanding view of Mt. Tom and Wheeler Crest in the Sierra Nevada Range. Nearby is the Tungsten Hills. Wintering deer herds often graze in the early spring. Plenty of opportunities for exploring, hiking, sightseeing. Closest amenities are in Bishop (12 miles).
Take Highway 395 north 8.5 miles to Sawmill Road, turn left (south) onto Sawmill Road, take an immediate right (west) onto Round Valley Road for 3 miles, follow signs to campground.
