Stockade Lake South Campground is located son the western side of Custer State Park, south of US Hwy 16A along Stockade Lake Drive, four miles east of the town of Custer.

Legion Lake Lodge is five miles to the east, dates back to 1913 when Custer State Park was a game preserve within the Custer State Forest and the area was leased by the local American Legion Post.
