Gold Bluffs Beach Campground, Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, California
View Original Description
Fifty miles north of Eureka, Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park protects sandy beaches and open meadows grazed by magnificent herds of Roosevelt elk. Gold Bluffs Beach is one of the best spots on the coast to see herds of wild Roosevelt elk. In September, you can hear the 1,100-pound males bugling and clashing antlers to attract female partners. Keep your distance (200 feet, at least).
