Run a Tough Mudder

A “Tough Mudder” is billed by the sponsors of these extreme sports undertakings as “Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet”. Courses are generally 10 to 12 miles of obstacles that challenge even the fittest athletes. The tracks include crawls through mud pits, leaps into icy plunges, smoky hay bale climbs, log carries, ropes courses and any number of other sadistic obstacles that race organizers can dream up and vary from location to location. Team work is essential for finishing the race and building your core group of strong willed fellow “mudders” is mandatory to insure a successful event. The sponsors of the events suggest that the course is more about completing a fearsome challenge while discovering a new sense of accomplishment for you than it is about competition but inevitably competition between the teams of extreme sports enthusiasts is a natural component. Events are consistently scheduled in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Europe, Canada, USA and South Africa with the roster constantly growing and new locations regularly added. The competitions have their roots in a training regimen designed for the British Special Forces designed to test overall strength, mental toughness, stamina and team building skills. Currently, the funds raised from the growing lineup of Tough Mudder events go to fund worthy programs such as the Wounded Warrior Project. Events regularly attract 20,000 or more competitors, spectators and support personnel. If you are dreaming about including what might just be your ultimate fitness challenge then consider including Complete A Tough Mudder to your list. Chances are there is an event scheduled at a time and a place that can tie in with another of your life fulfilling dreams. Start assembling your team and begin training for what might just be one the greatest physical accomplishments of your lifetime.
