Bridge over the San Pedro River at Charleston Narrows on Charleston Road, northeast of Sierra Vista and 8 miles before reaching Tombstone, AZ.
This bridge is closed to vehicles. There is a large parking area on the east side of the river, with access to the old bridge and trails.
On Dec. 12, 1846 while the Mormon Battalion was passing through on its way to Tucson and eventually to San Diego, it was attacked by a herd of bulls. Hence this spot is known as the the "Battle of the Bulls at The Narrows."
Charleston Narrows restricts the San Pedro River. Hohokam Indians pecked petroglyphs into the upper rocks of the canyon walls.
