Cycle through Salzach Valley (Gerlos Pass to Salzburg), Austria

The snowcapped Grossglockner, among numerous other majestic mountains that frame the 115 mile (185 km) course located in Austria’s Salzach Valley from Gerlos Pass to Salzburg can arguably be sited to support that this may be the most scenic of all the routes listed here. Plenty of downhill runs and flat meadows between a few uphill portions are hallmarks of this trail that descends from Gerlos Pass to the picturesque Austrian city of Salzburg. Another Austrian treat with easy cycling along the wide river in the Danube Valley from Linz or Enns to Krems (80 miles/128 km) has made for many unforgettable experiences. The stretch through the wine region of Wachau between Melk and Dürnstein is some of the most pleasant cycling to be experienced anywhere in Europe.
