The Plate Lunch is often served in a segmented Styrofoam container from drive-ins, food trucks, mom and pop shops and 24 hour diners. More upscale offerings include chicken in honey-lime vinaigrette, Hawaiian Laulau, a mix of meat and fish and young taro leaves, calamari with spinach salad or wild salmon with lemon-ginger sauce served on proper china on tables adorned with linen.
