Dive with Hammerhead Shark off Bimini Island, Bahamas
One of the great places to dive with hammerhead sharks is just off the beaches of the small island of Bimini in the Bahamas. Only 50 miles from Florida, Bimini is considered the great hammerhead capital of the world, where you can encounter up to a dozen different great hammerhead sharks.
Bimini Biological Field Station (Shark Lab) is a world famous facility owned and operated by shark biologist Dr. Samuel Gruber. The Sharklab offers marine biology internships to people interested in shark research and the conservation of the ocean's ecosystems. It's located on South Bimini Island and contributed a lot of research regarding the lemon shark.
