Drink Beer at
Aztec Brewery, Vista, California
View Original Description
Aztec Brewing Company fuses California style with Mexican tradition. The age-old brewery originally started in Mexicali, Mexico during Prohibition before making its way across the border to San Diego in 1933. For twenty years, the brewery enjoyed business in Barrio Logan before transferring hands to a Midwest-based brewer and closing up shop in San Diego in 1953. In 2008, John Webster and his partner Claudia Faulk secured the rights to the trademark and got to work reviving the venerable brand to the modern-day craft brewery it is today.
The new Aztec Brewing Company is a small production brewery and tap room in Vista, helmed by head brewer Paul Naylor. Combining nostalgia with innovation, Esposito crafts his brews using the highest quality hops and choicest malts available. Flavors, alcohol levels and styles run the gamut, from the gold medal-winning Aztec Amber to the cinnamon-infused Noche de los Muertos Imperial Stout.
Aztec’s brews are on tap in its tasting room from Wednesday through Friday from 4-9 p.m., Saturday from 1-9 p.m. and Sunday from 1-7 p.m. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
