BNS Brewing & Distilling Company is about as patriotic as breweries get. Helmed by an all-American quintet that includes two U.S. Navy SEALs and a local fire captain, this Santee-based brewery-distillery cranks out two good ol’ American staples: beer and bourbon. American pride is evident at every turn -- from the walls lined with reclaimed farmhouse wood to the old West saloon motif incorporated throughout the brewhouse and tasting room. A full-sized American flag waves proudly over the brewhouse, another is mounted in the tasting room bar, and SEAL insignia and smaller flags adorn other areas of the brewing and distilling stations. The brewery’s lighter, drinkable brews suit the scorching Santee temperatures nicely and keep parched patrons returning time and time again. Flowing from BNS’ 10-barrel American-made brewhouse are patriotically-titled ales like the Gunfighter Golden Ale, Saloon Girl Saison, Flinklock American Pale Ale and Revolver IPA. Tasting room hours are Sunday through Thursday from noon to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from noon to 10 p.m.
