Drink Beer at Hooleys Irish Pub (El Cajon), California
Ever since owner Craig MacDonald’s first trip to Ireland in the mid 1980s, he was so engrossed in the pub culture of the Emerald Isle that he dreamed of transporting that old Irish pub atmosphere to his hometown in Rancho San Diego. On St. Patrick’s Day in 1999, MacDonald’s wish came true as he and two partners successfully brought enchantment of authentic Irish pub to the heart of East County.
Native Irishmen and women will attest to Hooley’s authenticity in everything from the décor to the craft beer. Inside the pub, guests will find traditional Irish elements, including a polished brass whiskey still, old church pews serving as crutches for the bar, and authentic Irish interior décor that was shipped straight from Ireland. Hooley’s homemade cuisine focuses on classic Irish favorites and its wide selection of brews are reminiscent of the variety of styles found a traditional Irish pub.
Hooley’s is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to midnight and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
