Just like its namesake, Rip Current Brewing in San Marcos goes against the flow by handcrafting brews that are rich, flavorful and robust. Rip Current’s craft brews come in a wide variety of styles that range from rich and malty, to dry and hop-heavy, to sweet and fruity. Also added to the mix are a few barrel-aged brews and sour styles for good measure. Rip Tide’s focus on producing variety over volume has paid off with its range of styles appealing to a variety of craft beer lovers in North County. Avid homebrewers Paul Sangster and Guy Shobe decided to reach for greater things by opening up their own brewery in 2011. The brew duo feel strongly about crafting beer that appeals to a wide variety of consumers’ taste buds, but without compromising their own creative expressions. Tasting room hours are Wednesday and Thursday from 5-8 p.m., Friday from 4-9 p.m., Saturday from noon to 9 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
