Drink Beer at Wanaka Beerworks (Jabberwocky Brewing), Wanaka, New Zealand

Wanaka Beerworks was established in 1998 and is situated in one of the most picturesque towns in New Zealand. We get our inspiration for our beer from the beautiful surroundings and the town's unique vibe that's why we use the local landmarks on our labels. The brewery is now owned by Jabberwocky Brewery Ltd with owners Ruenell and Mike Wing who considered it a perfect opportunity as they have a passion for brewing and beers. They started brewing at home in the shed years ago and realised they were onto something when locals started knocking on their door to buy beer. Jabberwocky Brewery was born in Central Otago in early 2013. Today Wanaka Beerworks is a micro brewery with a 700L copper brew system which produces approximately 100,000L a year. As passionate brewers we want to create as many specialty brews as possible, yet operating a small brewery dictates a limited amount of space so we've kept the original Wanaka Beerworks beers and added the Jabberwocky range of products with the occasional seasonal beer rearing it's head. Interested in how beer is made or just curious in how one of the oldest craft trades is conducted? Then feel free to drop in and learn about the beauties of brewing a proper craft beer. The Tasting room is next door inside The Toy Museum which is open daily, here you can taste a selection of our finest. We do daily brewery tours at 2pm, or any time between 1pm and 4pm for groups of ten and more (bookings essential), We’ll take you through the history of the brewery and craft beer in NZ, the ingredients needed and through the processes step by step of this alchimist-like trade. Afterwards there’s ample time to taste samples of the Jabberwocky and Wanaka Beerworks beers. Please contact us in advance during the holiday periods or for groups bigger than 10 people.
