Dine & Wine Taste at Black Barn Vineyards, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand

For many people, Black Barn Bistro is the first port of call for a quintessential Hawke’s Bay winery lunch. It’s set on a slight hill overlooking grapevines, and you walk past a pathway lined with fig trees, passing the vineyard’s art gallery, to reach the light-filled restaurant with expansive windows. The simple, produce-led menu complements the Black Barn wine portfolio well. Dishes such as sumac-crusted venison accompanied by baba ghanoush and salt-roasted beetroot, or pork belly with chilli pineapple salsa and kumara and ginger mash rely on good-quality ingredients and deliver bold, well-balanced flavours. Service strikes the perfect note of friendly professionalism, with a good level of knowledge regarding both the food and the wine list. Black Barn wine matches by the glass are suggested for each dish, but staff are happy to recommend other options if you prefer. Source: Cuisine Magazine
