Daedalus Reef or Abu Kizan is one of the best places for scuba diving in the Red Sea. The reef has all kind of sharks, but in particluar hammerhead sharks. Unspoiled huge corals, big school of fish, manta's and even the majestic whale shark can be seen here.
The reef is located in the middle of the Red Sea (about 52 nautical miles (96 km) east of Marsa Alam), so it's a long boat ride to the Daedalus island (about 6 hours from Marsa Alam).
The island is 450 meter long and 100 meter wide and has an interesting lighthouse on it.
