Glacier Point Road, Yosemite National Park, California
View Original Description
Note: Glacier Point Road will be closed to all traffic in 2022 to rehabilitate and improve the road. The only access to Glacier Point will be via the Four Mile, Panorama, and Pohono Trails, all of which are strenuous hikes.
The Glacier Point Road usually opens around late May or early June, depending on conditions. Once the road opens, trails can remain wet and/or snowy for a few to several weeks. The Glacier Point Road usually closes sometime in November. Glacier Point, an overlook with a commanding view of Yosemite Valley, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, and Yosemite’s high country, is accessible by cross-country skiers in mid-December through March after skiing 10.5 miles.
Shuttle service is not available between Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point. Limited bus service (via the Glacier Point Tour) is available in summer; reservations are required. Do not hike to or from Glacier Point expecting to take a bus back to your car unless you have a reservation.
