Drive Kolob Terrace Road, Zion National Park, Utah

Kolob Terrace Road in Zion National Park, Utah goes across the top of the park as opposed to in the canyon, so you get an entirely different perspective of the park. Along the road there are trailheads that lead down to the canyon. Even if you do not camp or explore the Kolob Reservoir, the scenery from the road makes it a side trip worth exploring. The primitive campsite of Lava Point is located in the middle of the park off Kolob Terrace Road about 25 miles up from Virgin UT. Winter storms can last several days and make roads icy. Zion roads are plowed, except the Kolob Terrace Road which is closed when covered with snow. Winter driving conditions last from November through March.
