Drive
Lakeshore Road, Lake Mead NRA, Nevada
View Original Description
Taking a drive down Lakeshore Road is like cruising Lake Mead’s Main Street. With plenty of stops featuring picnic areas, spectacular views, and a variety of attractions, Lakeshore Road is like driving a Lake Mead sample platter, suitable for any vehicle. So get driving! Start at the southern end of Lakeshore Road near the visitor center just off Interstate 93. Drive only on the paved roads. 4WD vehicles can also drive on unpaved roads as long as they are signed with yellow arrows. Enjoy!
Access:
As you turn onto Lakeshore Road from Interstate 93, you are traveling the newest portion of the road. The old alignment was more of a straight drive about a quarter mile east near the Hoover Dam Lodge.
TIPS:
Lake Mead Visitor Center is located at the southern end of Lakeshore Road, and is a great place to pick up maps, water, info about trails and campgrounds, and more.
Check road conditions before traveling this route.
Take plenty of water for you and your vehicle.
The final location on Lakeshore Road is an intersection with Northshore Road. Driving straight leads you out of the park and into the city of Henderson, Nevada. Turning right on Northshore Road will take you through the northern sections of the park. Learn more about Northshore Road here.
