Eat at Mt Norquay Cliffhouse Bistro, Banff National Park

The Cliffhouse Bistro is located high on the upper slopes of Mt Norquay and provides the spectacular views over Banff. Ride the open air chairlift to the resturant. Formally the Teahouse, this architectural marvel originally opened in the winter of 1959. Due to the sensitivity of the national park landscape, the materials and design choices for the Cliffhouse were driven by the fact that everything had to be brought to the site via the chairlift. No large machinery would be used for construction and excavation for the upper terminal and Cliffhouse was done entirely by hand. By the project’s completion, over 9000 masonry blocks and 450 cubic yards of cement would be delivered via the single seater chair. 55 years on and the Cliffhouse Bistro reopens it’s doors with a brand new identity and a refreshing spin on mountain top dining; compliments of a menu designed by our talented executive chef, Morne Burger. The Cliffhouse also offers a great selection of craft beers and wine. If you’re looking for a place to kick back and unwind while taking in views of Banff in all it’s glory, look no further than Mount Norquay’s Cliffhouse Bistro.
