Taquitos
View Original Description
“Taquito” literally means “small taco”. Taquitos have become a staple of some American diets since retailers discovered Taquitos lent themself to the frozen food aisle and time-stressed mothers could use them as a quick and easy main course. It was a restaurant in San Diego, California though, that is credited with making them popular as a portable lunch item for factory workers during World War II. Stuffed with almost anything like beef, chicken, fish or potato a taquito is rightfully made with a corn tortilla that is tightly rolled and its cousin, the “flauta” uses a flour tortilla as its wrapping.
