Explore Escalante River Arm, Lake Powell, Utah

Escalante Arm (Mile 68) is the canyons carved by the Escalante River on Lake Powell in Utah. Its tributaries are some of the most beautiful and remote in this region. A restored ancient Native American Indian ruin can be seen high on the wall along the arm. The upper canyon area can be explored only by people willing to backpack long distances. The lower canyons can be toured by boat, or by making short hikes from the lake's edge. The Escalante River Arm has no channel markers so boaters should be cautious.
