Explore Gas Works Park, Seattle, Washington

Oh, go fly a kite. This is the perfect place. Rising above Lake Union, Gas Works works for a stroll, picturesque selfie or picnic watching the Tuesday evening Duck Dodge sail races. The park contains remains of the only remaining coal gasification plant in the U.S. Gas Works was bought by the city in 1962 after the plant closed down and was opened up as a park in 1975. Much of the plant still remains on the park today, making it a very unique park with a great view of Lake Union.
