The Gruta do Janelão is a limestone cave located within the Peruaçu Caves National Park, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is the largest cave in the valley, totaling 4,740 m in horizontal extension and 176 m above sea level. It has skylights that let in the sun and form small woods that resemble Japanese gardens for their delicacy and harmony, all on the banks of the Peruaçu River that runs through it. It has the largest stalactite ever recorded, measuring 28 meters long.
In the northwest of the state of Minas Gerais, the left bank of the São Francisco River presents a set of caves and archaeological sites with cave paintings spread across a three-meter wall that stand out for their bold and striking colors, and a sinkhole is the large window through which a panoramic view over the cave entrance and the first two of many skylights that would spread along the 3.5 km path with interesting formations of stalagmites and stalactites along the way.
The Peruaçu River runs through the cave and is also a major attraction. Outside, the vegetation is lush, with trees up to 60 meters tall.
