See Ingjaldshólskirkja Church, Hellissandur, Iceland

Ingjaldshólskirkja (Ingjaldshóll) is about 1 km from Hellissandur and there has been a church there since 1317 and it was until the 19th century the third largest church in the country, after the cathedrals in Skálholt and Hólar, but before that there was a prayer house. Both the parish was large and there will have been many people from all over the country during the seasons and the church will have accommodated about 400 people. Signs of its size can be seen from the cornerstones that can still be seen in the cemetery. The current Ingjaldshólskirkja is the oldest concrete church in the country and in fact in the whole world, built in 1903 and among its treasures is an altarpiece given by Danish merchants in 1709 and borrowed from Brimilsvallakirkja1923. The altarpiece that is now there is a replica of the altarpiece of Reykjavík Cathedral from 1903.
