Isla Magdalena National Park in Chile has more than 100,000 Magellanic Penguins. Take the on hour ferry ride from Punta Arenas and get off for a good 90-minute visit with the penguins. Follow the marked path through the penguin nests and up to the island’s lighthouse for an incredible view over the colony. November to March is the only time with boat tours available to Isla Magdalena. The Isla Magdalena national park is a 1,576 km2 (608 sq mi) protected area in Magdalena Island, Patagonia, Chile. It was created in 1967 as Forest Reserve and was reclassified as a National Park in 1983. Puerto Gaviota in the south of the national park is considered particularly noteworthy.
