Explore Menengai Crater, Kenya

The massive Menengai Crater is a shield volcano with one of the biggest calderas in the world, located in the Great Rift Valley, Kenya. More than 70 lava flows cover the caldera floor, the youngest of which may be only a few hundred years old. No historical eruptions are known from Menengai. The summit elevation is 2278 m (7,474 feet). Menengai is located 10 km (6 mi) north of Nakuru, the fourth-biggest city in Kenya.
