Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary, part of Agasthyamalai Biosphere Reserve, is one of the richest areas of bio-diversity in Western Ghats. The biotic richness and distinct biographic features of this forest area makes it an ideal gene pool reserve.
The park is part of the UNESCO Western GhatsWorld Heritage Site adding in 2012. The Western Ghatsand is one of the eight hottest hotspots of biological diversity in the world.Western Ghats represents geomorphic features of immense importance with unique biophysical and ecological processes.
Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area in the Western Ghats, India. It was established in 1984 and comprises 171 square kilometers. The name is a corruption of the Chengurinji, a tree endemic to the region (Gluta travancorica).
