Stubby Springs Loop is a 12.8 mile loop trail located on the western side of Joshua Tree National Park.
Stubby Spring flows perennially from the side of a' steep canyon. Use of Stubby Spring as a source of water began prior to 1909. national Park Service records show that the flow has varied from 10 gph (gallons per hour) in 19^9 to a "small trickle" in 1957- In November 1961, the total flow from the pipes at the spring -was estimated at 2 or 3 gpk.
Backcountry camping is permitted in areas that are:
1 mile (1.6 km) from roads,
500 feet from trails and water sources,
not day-use only areas.
Before setting out into the backcountry, you must first register at one of the backcountry boards.
