Wapusk National Park in Manitoba located on the shores of Hudson Bay is one of the world’s biggest polar bear denning sites. Winter visitors to this subarctic spot can also see the Cape Churchill caribou herd and have an excellent chance to enjoy one of nature’s best sky shows, the aurora borealis. Numerous birds are found in the Wapusk National Park and it is a likely breeding area of the Short-billed Dowitcher. The Wapusk National Park is a significant maternity denning area for the Polar Bear, Ursus maritimus. Access to the park is limited due to its remote location and an effort to preserve the park.
