Fly in a Glider (Sailplane)

Soaring through crystal clear skies like a bird with no fuel in a tank has been likened to poetry. Experiencing the challenge and beauty that is exhibited when an expert pilot soars for hours on end using all the tools developed through years of training is exhilarating. Sailplanes use the subtleties of wind, thermal currents and other invisible forces of nature to stay aloft, all the while emulating the flight of the eagles, hawks and other avian species that similarly soar using counter measures to gravity. Intellect tells you that the heavy machine in which the pilot and his passengers are ensconced has no business staying airborne without an engine, yet under the masterful skill of an accomplished glider pilot airborne is just where it stays. An introductory flight in a glider is the first step to discovering a world that for most is unknown. For many, just riding in a sailplane is enough to satisfy their curiosity or perhaps yearn for another ride. For others it’s the first step in developing the skills to become a glider pilot. Facilities throughout the world provide access to sailplanes whether to experience once what it feels like to be towed to a dizzying height by a conventional airplane and then returned to earth under the expert guidance of an accomplished pilot without the benefit of propellers and jet engines or to begin the journey of one day having the necessary certification to soar on your own. You probably have dreamed of soaring through the air like an eagle, of effortlessly riding wind currents while observing the land-bound world below. Perhaps you were disappointed when that dream was terminated because you awoke. Recapture that feeling by adding a ride in a sailplane to your list today and start investigating the best way to make sure the fantasy is fulfilled.
