Fly in a
Seaplane or Floatplane
View Original Description
Seaplanes have the ability to transport passengers to isolated places without a conventional airport in minutes or hours that might otherwise take days by land or typical watercraft. All that’s needed is a reasonably reliable body of water and a fixed wing aircraft outfitted with either pontoons or a fuselage that it buoyant. Through the use of seaplanes, travelers are able to include visits to unique locations to perhaps fish for a trophy catch, embark upon a cross country skiing adventure, commence a safari, dine at an intimate riverfront restaurant, embark upon a day of shopping at an island port or any other excursion where the time of getting to and from by the usual means is a consideration. Through the use of seaplanes, time challenged travelers are able to compress multiple side-trips in the time that may normally be allocated to one or reach places that would not otherwise be possible.
The thrill of the water takeoff and landing is an adventure all its own. Imagine yourself skimming along the water while building up speed to get airborne. As you fly along at a relatively low altitude you will take in the sights not usually seen from ordinary aircraft. Then, as your landing commences, gazing out your window to watch the plane descend into a different body of water where it quickly and almost silently comes to a stop.
The use of seaplanes allows dreamers to fulfill their desire to visit isolated locations that provide challenges due to time restrictions or for reasons of accessibility. If you have a pilot’s license you can start looking into the charter conditions and training provided in the many places seaplanes are available worldwide. Everyone else can buckle their safety belt and leave the flying to a local professional. It may be the only way to get where you are going.
