Go Heli-Skiing/Boarding in British Columbia, Canada

Canada is already home to some epic skiing with destinations like Whistler, Lake Louise, and Banff. The mountains offer groomed runs for skiers of all levels. Advanced and expert skiers who want to experience something a bit more adventurous and extreme (think a Warren Miller movie) should consider a heli skiing trip. Get taken by helicopter to a remote mountain location and follow a guide down uninhabited backcountry terrain filled with fresh powder that’s light and fluffy. Since Heli Skiing is such a popular activity in Canada – its been said that it’s the Capital of Heli Skiing in the world – there are plenty of places to experience it. In Northern British Columbia are the Skeena, Stikine, and Coastal Mountains. The most famous ranges are the Monashees, Selkirks, Purcells, Cariboos, and of course, the Bugaboo Range, where Heli Skiing got its start in the 1960s. Depending on the destination, vertical runs can be longer than 2,400 feet. There is also a variety of terrain available including dense tree areas and wide-open bowls. The best time to take a heli skiing trip in British Columbia is February, but the season typically runs from January to early April.
