Golf Augusta National Golf Club, Georgia

The site of the prestigious Masters Golf Tournament, Augusta National Golf Club is located in Augusta, Georgia, USA. Co-founded by the greatest amateur golfer of all time, Bobby Jones, Augusta National is arguably the most widely known golf course designed by prolific golf course architect, Alistair MacKenzie. Augusta National has hosted the Masters Tournament, one of professional golf’s 4 major tournaments, continuously since 1934. The golf course is widely known and familiar to golf fans due to continuous inclusion in the major tournaments and the significant amount of television exposure as a result. Most golfers would be thrilled at the opportunity to take on “Amen Corner”, as the routing of the 11th through 13th holes have come to be known since author Herbert Warren Wind first used the term to describe this most challenging part of the course in 1958. As testament to the quality of the golf course the list of Masters winners reads like a “Who’s Who” of golf’s most accomplished practitioners: Gene Sarazen, Byron Nelson, Jimmy Demaret, Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Billy Casper, Tom Watson, Seve Ballasteros, Ben Crenshaw, Bernhard Langer, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are among those that have worn the Green Jacket that is awarded to the Masters Champion. Augusta National Golf Club is a seriously private club with a membership that includes some of the most prominent heads of industry. Access to the course is painfully difficult. Unless you are invited by a member there are few ways that non-members can access the cherished grounds. Some of the recommendations have a greater chance of success than others but the possibilities include: Volunteer for the Master’s tournament (still a pot luck chance); Finish in the top 2 of the US or British Amateur golf tournament; Obtain a media credential and be among those members of the media that win a lottery to play after the tournament; Become a caddy at Augusta National. Your dream of playing a round at Augusta National Golf Club will never be realized if you don’t add it to your list today. Fulfilling this fantasy is difficult and filled with obstacles but most things worth achieving are. Imagine yourself driving up Magnolia Lane, golfing your ball around Amen Corner, driving over The Eisenhower Tree or walking across the historic Sarazen Bridge and start scheming as to how you are going to pull this off.
